VERTREV Platform

VERTREV IS THE PLATFORM THAT INCLUDES A COLLABORATIVE CONNECTIVITY PLATFORM FOR RURAL AREAS.
THIS IS A NEW SOFTWARE AND PROCEDURES DEVELOPMENT ON A NOVEL HARDWARE ELEMENTS COMBINATION IN ORDER TO PROVIDE ESSENTIAL CONNECTIVITY IN RURAL AREAS THAT USUALLY LACK THE USUAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS COVERAGE THAT EXISTS IN URBAN AREAS.

The system generates radio frequency coverage areas called Ag Coverage . It does so from an Ag-Point Base device, generally connected to an Internet access, with a coverage range that varies according to technology and installation conditions to which various devices can connect:

- Remote Ag-Point, one or more, that provide Wi-Fi coverage to its surroundings, providing connected devices with a basic and sufficient Internet connectivity experience for instant messaging and applications with transfer rates controlled and approved by the system.

- Sensors and devices that can communicate using standard protocols like LORA or similar (or future standards with the same efficiency principle in the use of radio spectrum and energy).

The Remote Ag-Points can be owned by the same Ag-Point Base owner, or by third parties that use the Ag Coverage of the person who owns and manages the Ag-Point Base associated with that coverage, in which case, the concept of Gauchada is born , where one Remote Ag-Point uses another's coverage.

Ag coverage

The Ag coverage is a VERTREV development based on technological standards that solve the physical connectivity layer, used and combined in such a way as to support different use cases under the concept of "sufficiency", that is, providing "essential connectivity".
Ag coverage is provided from an Ag-Point Base device, whose coverage radius and data rate may vary depending on physical aspects (terrain, line of sight, etc.) and aspects related to the use case. It is specially designed to provide connectivity where there is no other alternative.
Ag coverage can exist in a “stand alone” form or integrated to the Internet.

To connect to Internet, you need your base node (AG-Point Base) to have an internet connection, of any type:

- Residential or corporate fixed internet access, using one of the Ethernet ports or WiFi network available from the modem and/or router that provides the internet connection.
- Access to mobile internet, using a dongle, cellular modem and/or WiFi from a device connected to the mobile network.
- Access to satellite internet, using an Ethernet port or WiFi network available from the satellite modem.

The Ag Coverage, established by the Ag-Point Base and by remote Ag-Points, allows the access of any mobile phone via WIFI and is compatible with third-party sensors and devices that respond to industry standards or are approved by VERTREV.
The coverage radius is subject to terrain conditions, antennas used and transfer rates associated with the specific use case. For reference only, typical installations and use cases are presented with coverage within approximately 5km radius from the Ag-Point Base.
Ag coverage is provided on free, unlicensed bands such as 2.4Ghz, 900Mhz, and all those available.

Ag-Point Base

It is the main Ag Coverage device. Its design uses technological standards to solve the radio frequency connectivity of devices that are within its range. It is used as a Gateway to provide internet connectivity to the Ag Coverage.
It is connected to the electrical network through the use of an external source.
It connects to the Internet through an Ethernet or WIFI connection to the provider that provides Internet to the installation site, or through a dongle or cellular modem, using the cellular coverage available at the installation site.
It has its own processing capacity to be able to present sensor data under its Ag Coverage locally.
It can function as a gateway and transmit sensor data to and from the internet.
Allows more than one Remote Ag-Point connected to the Ag Coverage.

Ag-Point Remote

It is the remote device that connects to the Ag Coverage provided by an Ag-Point Base. It is used as a remote device in Ag Coverage and provides:

- WIFI connectivity(*) to nearby devices.
- Connectivity in various standards to sensors and/or devices: RS-232, USB, Bluetooth, RS-422/485, Ethernet, WIFI(*).
(*) WIFI connectivity limited to certain applications, with a very low data transfer rate previously approved by VERTREV.

It is connected to the electrical network through the use of an external source or a 12Vdc battery. Adapters or alternative sources may be used: from 7 to 24Vdc.
It has its own processing capacity to be able to perform computing operations at the edge.
It can function as an "IoT Hub" integrating sensors and devices from different technologies and communication standards to present them locally at the Ag-Point Base or to transmit them to the Internet in another standard (eg LORA WAN or MQTT)
Provides very low transfer rate Wi-Fi connectivity for messaging applications (for example, IM text and audio).
Provides WIFI connectivity for applications on smartphones, PCs, tablets and other devices that require a very low transfer rate previously approved and/or aconditioned by VERTREV.
